Dr. Richter, a chiropractor in east county San Diego, wants to share a true story with you.

In the early 1950s, Winifred Gardella was a poster child for the March of Dimes. Her picture was published in the newspapers to raise huge sums of money for the March of Dimes inSan Francisco. Nationally, her image raised millions of dollars to help fight the dreaded crippler, POLIO. Her sad, innocent face and her tiny body supported on crutches and leg braces, made many Americans reach into their pockets to donate.

But the March of Dimes couldn’t help Winifred. After two and a half years, under their doctor’s expert care, her parents were told: “There is no hope.”

Despite this dire prediction, her grandparents were determined to find a cure.

They were not about to accept the opinion of so-called “medical experts.” They decided to choose their own health care approach and took Winifred to Dr. Lewis Robertson, a chiropractor.

In less than six months of having her nerve interference corrected under Dr. Robertson’s care, Winifred Gardella threw away her crutches and braces and went for a walk with her chiropractor.

She’s been walking ever since!

Your Nervous System

The Spinal Column

What is it really?  Chiropractors are often called “back doctors.” Actually, they have NOTHING to do with the back itself!  They work on the spinal column — one of the most important and complex components of the human nervous system.

The Nervous System

The human body is a remarkable thing. At any given moment, it performs hundreds of thousands of individual functions — circulating and purifying blood, turning fuel (food) into energy, maintaining proper internal temperature, taking in oxygen, and all the other operations which keep us alive and healthy.  But Dr. Richter has noticed that we take it for granted.

Guided by the knowledge our bodies are born with — our Innate Intelligence — every cell and organ sends and receives messages to and from the brain.

In fact, the brain acts like a central communication depot, processing millions of messages every second. These messages, relayed as electrical impulses, are sent out over nerves the way phone calls travel along telephone wires.

A thick braid formed by BILLIONS of these nerves is attached to the brain and extends down from the base of the skull.

This is the spinal cord.

Smaller braids branch off from the cord. These braids divide again and again into tiny nerve fibers and fill the entire body, going to each cell, organ and tissue.

Every human being has an estimated 15 billion nerve cells. All send and receive messages as nerve impulses through the spinal cord. What we do here at this clinic is make sure those 15 billion nerve cells are working at their optimum. Your body does the healing. We just remove the interferences. That’s all. Kidney Stones in Kids!

Doctors are reporting a “steep rise” in the number of young children with kidney stones, according to anecdotal data cited by The New York Times.

“In China recently, many children who drank milk tainted with melamine – a toxic chemical illegally added to watered-down milk to inflate the protein count – developed kidney stones,” the paper says.  ”The increase in the United States is attributed to a host of factors, including a food additive that is both legal and ubiquitous: SALT!

Starting here at home in El Cajon, we are concerned about your children too.

Experts say children are consuming too much salt and too little water.

The also blame ‘obesity’ for the increase in the number of pediatric kidney stone cases that doctors are seeing across the USA.  Regular chiropractic care is a good health tip for your children.

“The incidence of kidney stones in adults has also been rising, especially in women, and experts say they see more adults in their 20s and 30s with stones; in the past, it was more common in adults in their 40s and 50s, the paper says.

Are your children drinking enough good pH water?  If not, you need to think about what you’re feeding them and letting them drink.

Their health depends on your choices.

Benefits of Apple Cider Vinager?

Question: Aside from chiropractic care, is drinking apple cider vinegar going to improve your health?  Fix your gout?  Balance your blood sugar?  Which health tips are fact and which are fiction?

Improving Performance in Sports

What do Evan­der Holyfield, the heavyweight champion of the world, John Smoltz, the 1996 Cy Young award winner, and Dan O’Brien, the 1996 Olym­pic Gold Medalist in the decathlon have in common?

They have all been on the cover of Today’s Chiropractic Magazine sharing their excitement about the benefits of Chiropractic Wellness Care.

Evander Holyfield stated in the December 1988 issue, “I do believe in chiropractic. I found that going to a chiropractor three times a week helps my performance. Once I drove 20 miles to see a chiropractor before a fight. I have to have my adjustment before I get in the ring.”

Dan O’Brien said in the August 1996 issue, “you obviously can’t compete at your fullest if you’re not in alignment. It was the holistic idea that I liked about chiropractic. I really think chiropractic is essential in running. If I could put a percentage on it, I think I compete eight to ten percent better from regular chiropractic use, if not more. It is essential for me and my training routine,” declared O’Brien.

Ten percent is a huge amount for an athlete, or anyone for that matter. For Dan O’Brien it was the difference between him winning the gold medal and not even making the team.

Can you imagine if your entire life improved by ten percent? What if your energy, sleep, healing ability, and immune function were all improved by 10%? How about a 10% improvement in hormonal balance and digestion efficiency? If your entire body was functioning just  ten percent better it would make a huge difference.

Chiropractic for Chronic Ear Infections

More and more parents are beginning to look to chiropractors to complement their children’s health care. Chiropractic care involves diagnosing spinal misalignments and correcting them by adjusting the spine. A slight pressure is most commonly used with children rather than the more forceful manipulation sometimes used with adults. Chiropractors attempt to get to the root cause of a health problem rather than just treat the symptoms. Misalignments of the spine (also called subluxations) can occur during childbirth, from tumbles or falls, or from any other normal activity. Misalignments left untreated can irritate the nerves and eventually disrupt the body’s ability to function properly. The purpose of a chiropractic adjustment is to help to restore the normal functioning of the nervous system so the body can heal itself without the use of drugs or surgery. Ear Infections and Chiropractic Ear pain is the number one reason for child visits to chiropractors. Many chiropractors believe that there is a strong link between the birthing process and recurrent ear infection… Ear infection accounts for over 35% of all pediatrician visits in the United States. Antibiotics, the usual treatment, are not always effective and may even lead to a recurrence of ear infections. Many children are dealing with a continuing cycle of repeat ear infections, which lands them back at the pediatrician for more antibiotics. For nearly 100 years, the chiropractic profession has claimed that ear and other upper respiratory infections respond favorably to chiropractic adjustments. A promising study published in the Journal of Clinical Chiropractic Pediatrics indicates that there is a strong correlation between chiropractic adjustments and the resolution of ear infections. 332 children with chronic ear infections participated in the study. Each child, ranging in age from 27 days to 5 years, was given a series of chiropractic adjustments. The results show that close to 80% of the children did not experience another ear infection within the six-month period following their initial visits. The six-month period included maintenance treatments every four to six weeks. Joan M. Fallon, D.C., the author of the study and the chiropractor who treated the children in the study, states that this pilot study can serve as a starting point from which the chiropractic profession can begin to examine its role in the treatment of children with chronic ear infections… chiropractic treatment is a conservative, drugless approach to consider trying if your child has a history of chronic ear infections.

Richter Chiropractic is doing a food drive!

We have been doing a food drive with the San Diego Food Bank to make this Holiday Season a good one for the hungry.  It has been going very well so far!  We have 7 days left to fill the food bins and we are accepting all food donations.  The food drop off is at 236 Jamacha Rd, El Cajon, CA. Thank you to all of our friends and patients who have already contributed.
