How To Avoid Diabetes, Heart Disease and Obesity!

How To Avoid Diabetes, Heart Disease and Obesity!

Did you know that Testosterone begins declining in men as early as the mid-30′s and can result in an increased risk of diabetes, heart disease and obesity?

Something we all want to avoid. This condition is called Andropause. Symptoms of low testosterone levels include anxiety, reduced libido, loss of lean muscle mass and low stamina, as well as depression.

Do you suffer from any of these symptoms, or do you know any men with these issues?

The medical community has been very slow to recognize how serious this problem is and it is likely that your doctor has never discussed it with you before. There is however, good news.

They tell you it’s possible to increase your testosterone levels with testosterone injections. Unfortunately, this method can be very expensive, painful, and also come with increased risks for prostate cancer, as your blood must be checked on a regular basis to monitor for any possible negative side effects.

                                                Here is REALLY GOOD NEWS!

A new and totally natural homeopathic crème is now available at this office.  It will naturally increase your body’s levels of testosterone to levels that were previously only possible with expensive and potentially dangerous testosterone injections.

The testosterone level increases are nothing short of amazing, with none of the side effects associated with testosterone injections.

Here are the benefits that the subjects in our tests have reported and you may receive the same benefits within just 90 days!

1. Increased energy and stamina
2. Increase in Libido.
3. Ability to lift more weight during workouts.

Work Without STRESS?

Work Without Stress?

Stress is tough on all of us here in the greater San Diego area – despite such great weather.   When you learn to reduce your work stress, your overall stress decreases as well!

We spend most of our waking hours doing this thing we call “work” so that we can provide for our families.

Unfortunately, for far too many people, work produces a great deal of stress, which carries over to their home life, social life and all the other activities of everyday living.

We end up dreading getting out of bed in the morning. Then we dread our commute, our work environment, our interactions with bosses and co-workers, the very job we do, and then our commute back home.

No wonder so many people are tired, depressed and stressed out!

There are certain ways to de-stress your work environment. For example, you can:

Make a “To-Do” list at the end of every day, for the next day – Then you will be ready when you get to work the next day, and you’ll know exactly what you have to do. Prioritize the list so you know what to do first.

Make sure you have all the details of any assignment and the ability to get it done – You can’t do a job when you lack the skills, resources, knowledge or tools to get it done. Clarify and confirm with your supervisor what you are expected to do.

If you are in a management position, learn how to delegate – One of the biggest problems managers face is the inability to delegate. Many feel there is no one who can do the job as well as they can and it would take too long to teach them anyway. It may take an hour to explain to a subordinate how to perform a particular task, but once they learn it, they own it! Result: Less stress!

Take a break – Take a walk, run an errand, eat something, visit the water cooler, or talk to a co-worker. No one can work 24/7 without a break. Taking breaks actually increases productivity and relaxes you.

Leave your job where it belongs, at the office – If you need to catch up some work at home, spend time with the family, eat dinner, play with the kids, help with homework and bedtime routines first. Pick up your work after you’ve made your family the priority they deserve.

Everyone’s work is becoming increasingly stressful, especially as technology continues to advance. If you want to stay healthy, you find ways to de-stress. Remember the importance of exercise, proper nutrition, sufficient sleep and routine chiropractic care to keep your body and mind well tuned and functioning at peak capacity!

Why are Genetically Modified Foods bad? Part 1

Genetically Modified Foods. NO!!

Monsanto and the corporate food industry would like to keep the presence of GMOs in your food a secret.  YES, a secret.

That’s why I’m writing you this email.  I care about all my patients and others here in east county San Diego.  And I believe that your natural health is your best health.

You need to know the truth, don’t just believe anything you see on TV.  You may think you’re SAFE and that Washington takes care of you along with the FDA, but YOU need to take care of yourself and your family.

Part 1.  Here are 10 reasons you don’t want GMO’s in your food:

1) GMO production requires the heavy use of pesticides and other toxic chemicals.

2) GMOs contain foreign genes for which the harmful side-effects are largely unknown.

3) There has never been a single long-term safety study conducted on ANY GMO.

4) Cultivation of GMOs leads to the proliferation of herbicide-resistant “superweeds,” for which there are NO known solutions.

5) Monsanto, the largest purveyor of GMOs, is responsible for thrusting Agent Orange on the world.  Do you trust a chemical company?

6) Labeling GMOs will NOT increase food costs, as GMOs have been labeled throughout Europe for more
than a decade without consequence.

7) Animal studies have shown that GMOs cause sterility within three generations — your grandchildren’s children!
8) There have been no long-term studies on the environmental impact of GMO cultivation.

9) GMOs are produced using “terminator” seeds, requiring farmers to buy new seeds every year from biotechnology firms.

10) GM corn, which is used in livestock feed, has been shown to severely HARM animals — do you think it might HARM YOU, your children, and other humans?

Once introduced into the environment, GMOs can never be withdrawn.  NEVER!

Keep Your Nails Healthy

“Keep Your Nails Healthy!”

While nails do not seem very important, especially to men, their appearance does say a thing or two about you.  And we here at Richter Chiropractic do as we say.

Healthy looking nails means that you are healthy and well kept nails means that you care about your own personal cleanliness and hygiene. You do not need to go to a day spa and pay for an expensive manicure in order to have beautiful nails. You can make your nails beautiful and lustrous right at home in El Cajon – or wherever you live in East County or greater San Diego – if you are willing to follow a few simple routines aimed at keeping them healthy and strong.

On average a nail grow around 1 millimeter per week, its building material being a protein known as keratin. While cutting them is the most common method of checking his growth, this is a good way to cause them to split. Instead, try ‘filing them down to a short to medium length using a standard nail file’. You should file your nails from one corner to the center in one direction and avoid moving from side to side which can weaken your nails. Use a good cuticle cream, and push them back gently and then massage the nail base to encourage blood flow.

Water: bad for nails
Water can be considered your nails worst enemy and soaking them in water for a long time is an absolute no-no. If you do need to do something that requires your nails being submerged in water for an extended period, it is smart to don some rubber gloved or shoes to protect the nails on your fingers and toes.

Healthy diet = healthy nails
A diet rich in protein is important if you want to keep your nails strong and hard. If you are a vegetarian, be sure to get your protein from a good source like nuts. Sulfur intake is also important when it comes to healthy nails. Garlic, leafy greens and fruits will also give your overall nail health a bit of a boost.   And regular chiropractic care helps you maintain a healthy body.

Your nail is not a tool to be used and abused
While many people seem to think that nails were given to us so we can remove stickers from the wall and stubborn bits of food from a plate, or to loosen screws, the truth is that nails are not meant to be used as tools. Chipping or breaking your nails makes it easier for you to get infections like warts and nail fungus.

Keep an emery board around
If you do happen to chip or crack a nail, having an emery board around to file and smooth away the damage will help prevent further problems.

Do not be a nail biter
Nail biting is not only a unpleasant habit to watch someone do, it is also unsanitary. Nail biting can lead to ugly, uneven nails that are too short and susceptible to fungal disease.

Keep them short
Keeping your nails trimmed to just a few centimeters past the base of your fingers will make them easier for you to clean and maintain. If you happen to prefer longer nails, clean them regularly and use oils and lotions to strengthen them whenever possible.

Wear rubber gloves
This rule not only applies to when you are doing the dishes, but also every time you handle chemicals or cleaning products that might be harmful to your nails and hands.

Restore Your pH Balance with Alkaline pH Water

Want to feel young again?  Do the things here in El Cajon that you used to do?  Here are a few things that drinking Alkaline pH water on a regular basis can help:

  • Boost energy and relieve occasional fatigue
  • Support healthy immunity
  • Slow premature aging
  • Ease occasional constipation
  • Promote healthy heart function
  • Support healthy breathing
  • Promote healthy skin (especially under this El Cajon sun)
  • Improve cognitive and memory function
  • Promote overall good health and well-being on top of regular chiropractic care

A lack of pH Balance can negatively impact your body!

According to the Journal of Longevity - and to our experience here in El Cajonpoor health is linked to acid overload.  That’s why it’s important to regulate your ‘delicate’ pH balance.  The closer to 7.39 (neutral) you are, the healthier you’ll be.  However, if your pH is too acidic, long-term, you will most likely start to experience things like:

  • Sapped energy and stamina
  • Weakened heart and circulation
  • Decreased sexual desire and performance
  • Accelerated aging
  • Breathing problems
  • Irregular bowels
  • Joint problems
  • Soreness in our muscles or minor muscle pain

Too much acid decreases your body’s ability to absorb vitamins, minerals, and nutrients.

Why? Acid overoad wrecks your enzymes so nothing can dissolve completely. This lack of pH balance can ead to health problems.

Benefits of Apple Cider Vinager?

Question: Aside from chiropractic care, is drinking apple cider vinegar going to improve your health?  Fix your gout?  Balance your blood sugar?  Which health tips are fact and which are fiction?

Studies show: It improves insulin sensitivity and management of type two diabetes.  Drink apple cider vinegar BEFORE MEALS which will lower your ‘glycemic index’ when eating carbohydrates.  Better digestion – It helps prevent necessary gastric acid from leaving the stomach too soon.   Appetite control and weight loss – Several trials show that drinking apple cider vinegar BEFORE a meal has the benefit of curbing appetite.

People say?: Treatment of over-acidic conditions of the body, such as arthritis and gout.  Remember that right here in our chiropractic office in El Cajon we have an alkaline water machine for you to use.  Reducing swelling – wet a cloth and hold on a bruise for up to 1 hr.  Alleviating dandruff – the acids in the vinegar kill the fungus causing chemical imbalances in the skin of the scalp.

How do you get the benefits of apple cider vinegar here in East County?

  1. Use only raw unpasteurized apple cider vinegar.
  2. Shake bottle prior to use to disperse the threads of the apple cider vinegar.
  3. Take 2 tsp. of apple cider vinegar in 1/2 glass of pH water prior to meals.
  4. Always eat or rinse your mouth or brush your teeth after drinking this.
  5. You can buy pH tests at the pharmacy, and test your pH at home.

Improving Performance in Sports

What do Evander Holyfield, the heavyweight champion of the world, John Smoltz, the 1996 Cy Young award winner, and Dan O’Brien, the 1996 Olympic Gold Medalist in the decathlon have in common?

They have all been on the cover of Today’s Chiropractic Magazine sharing their excitement about the benefits of Chiropractic Wellness Care.

Evander Holyfield stated in the December 1988 issue, “I do believe in chiropractic. I found that going to a chiropractor three times a week helps my performance. Once I drove 20 miles to see a chiropractor before a fight. I have to have my adjustment before I get in the ring.”

Dan O’Brien said in the August 1996 issue, “you obviously can’t compete at your fullest if you’re not in alignment. It was the holistic idea that I liked about chiropractic. I really think chiropractic is essential in running. If I could put a percentage on it, I think I compete eight to ten percent better from regular chiropractic use, if not more. It is essential for me and my training routine,” declared O’Brien.

Ten percent is a huge amount for an athlete, or anyone for that matter. For Dan O’Brien it was the difference between him winning the gold medal and not even making the team.

Can you imagine if your entire life improved by ten percent? What if your energy, sleep, healing ability, and immune function were all improved by 10%? How about a 10% improvement in hormonal balance and digestion efficiency? If your entire body was functioning just  ten percent better it would make a huge difference.

Why Do We Perspire?

You know the saying, “Never let them see you sweat.” Well, maybe they don’t have to see you sweat, but if you’re not perspiring, your body may be trying to tell you something and you’d better be listening!

Your body comes equipped with its own internal thermostat that keeps body temperature at a normal 98.6° F or 37° C. Every day, your body “fuels” itself with the food you eat and then burns this fuel using about 2500 calories in a process known as oxidation. The heat produced in this process could bring 25 gallons/23 liters of water to the boiling point. Now that’s a lot of heat!

So… what happens to all that heat? Well… the thermostat turns on its cooling system, which slows down the oxidation process. Then your body releases the heat to maintain normal body temperature. How is all this heat released? Through sweat, of course!

Here’s the cool stuff. There is a network of more than 2 million sweat glands throughout your entire body. Sweat, or perspiration, exits your body through the pores in your skin in tiny droplets that you can’t see. These droplets evaporate quickly to cool your body.

When you are under emotional stress, bacteria on the surface of your skin start to break down the apocrine sweat and this is what causes body odor! Exercise, hot weather and emotional stress or anxiety ALL have an effect on the amount of sweat produced. How much you sweat depends on many different factors – your mood, diet, hormones, medications, illnesses… even heredity plays a part! Something about body odor… try taking a look at the foods you’re eating – salty/spicy foods, garlic, onions and caffeinated beverages are known to affect body odor.
